Can any of you guys with replicas or de-acs, show how this tripod should fit to the gun? We're going to have to replicate it, and I wont get hands on for a week, I was just hoping to research in advance.
It's going to be a bit of a pain in the arse to replicate. Basically, there are two pairs of steel "loops" that come off the bottom of the heatshield. The front pair are used to hold the bipod, and the AA tripod would slot into the rear pair of them.
I'll take some pics of them tomorrow and post 'em up.

Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Oddball, I cant use a spokeshave, it's 150 year old oak, spokeshave wont touch it, so I'm forced to get mechanical with it ![]()
Kermit, now I've got hold of the tripod I see what you mean. I've left it with a friend who is a CNC engineer, to see if he can fabricate some kind of reciever, maybe a bit of pipe with a slot cut in it, that we can then weld it onto the base of the gun.

If you cut a rectangular slot under the shield you can probably weld some pipe in with just half showing.

After a couple of hours, starting with 40 grade, then 60 and finishing with 120 grade I got the stock to this stage. I dont have a real one to compare it to but I dont think it's too far off what I want. I'll start with wet and dry and stock oil this evening and get a few coats on before I leave it to dry overnight.

Nice job well done

Using a kit I got a while back by a company called "Trade Secret" the "oil finish kit" is a 3 part system for bringing up walnut stocks from bare wood to finish level. The first coat is a process of opening up the grain and then filling and sanding the grain of the wood. After a couple of hours allowing drying between applications, I skipped stage two, the colouring ( two reasons, last time I found it ineffective for job I wanted and two I knew this old oak would come up a treat) and went to stage 3. this is a comination of several oils and appx one fith beeswax. I applied a coat liberally and left it for half an hour, rubbed of any excess with kitchen towel and then "palmed it" for 20 mins. Palming is the process of rubbing the wood with your palm untill the friction builds up heat and this works the oil into the wood and results in a shiny finish. I repeated the process and have now left it to harden overnight. How much you apply is up to you but I'll probably give it another couple of coats tomorrow, a final coat when it (ever) gets fixed to the gun and then periodically every six months, just to keep the oil content high. Having said that the wood it'self is rock hard and is almost deemed as "airsofter proof" ![]()
Edit, we sell those kit's at Ford Ranges for £14.50, if you cant get one anywhere else and want one, stick on a couple of quid for P&P and I'll post one to you. PM me if interested

I am so impressed with that mate!!!
Don't completely blame me for this it was my Sister that pointed it out
I think I must have had a Monty Python overdose at some point

Progress has been painfully slow but it may have turned a corner. My mate that's building the body sent me this pic today and hopefully he'll be bringing the nearly complete body along on Sunday and I'll have some pics for you. I've got a full metal AK gearbox and motor assembly waiting, and an 11.1 Li poly battery on order. A fellow player is building a mosfet for me so once the body is complete we can start trying to cram it all in together and get it spitting out a plastic hailstorm ![]()

Nice job.

Serves you right, you snail eating Free Froggie tunnel rat Lol

Once it's up and running we'll use it as an objective in games. You have to be able to capture the ammo and a German to operate the gun, type of games, it should be a laugh.
Hairy Steve thanks for the offer mate, I blew up a set of plans from the net to full scale and we've gone off that, although Artistic license will take place occasionally ![]()

Just an update for ya, we've still got some holes to cut on the other side of the body, and that was the first time the stock has been anywhere near the body. I purposely left the stock long and wide as it's easier to take bits off than add them on! I've ordered a PSG1 barrel which should be ok for the length and then I'm probably going to hand the lot over to Tom Andrews and say make it work please ![]()
I'm probably going to have to bow to artistic licence and use an AK grip for the moment as it's an AK motor and gearbox that I'm using. I've given up with trying to fit a Cmag internals into the basket mag, so I'm now looking at an A&K minimi mag internals which might be more user friendly when joining it up to the hop.

We need to practice our bunker fighting, thats were we'll find you sausage munchers
Must get Tom to set it up with a remote controll disarm ![]()

Nice work ZB try blowtorch and oil

Free speech is expensive these days!

Yup that's the next stage, once he's finished the flip up cover, we'll be heating it up to cherry red and applying the old oil.

Just a couple of photos to keep y'all up to date. I know the mag is in the wrong place, and now I've cut the stock to the right size I've discovered it's about 2.5 - 3mm too wide so it'll be back to attacking it with the powerfile to slim it down a bit, but you can see It's coming along quite well ![]()

Phenominal work!
